Cathay City (國泰城), abbr. CX City, formerly named Cathay Pacific City between 2016 and 2025, is located at 8 Scenic Road, Islands District, New Territories, which is the corporate headquarter of Cathay Pacific. It was opened in November 1999.

Cathay Pacific City is surrounded by Scenic Road, East Coast Road, Chun Wan Road Interchange and the slip road of Airport Road. The "City" was surrounded by a 10-storey office building, a 23-storey crew hotel named "The Headland" (逸泰居), amenities building and flight training centre. Besides, the Airline Store Building is located opposite Bus Stop Loop on Scenic Road at Chun Ming Road.

History[]

In the Kai Tak Airport era, Cathay Pacific was headquartered in Chater House in Central and had offices at the old airport. Upon the opening of Cathay City in 1999, the headquarter and offices were moved to the new airport.

Facilities[]

Cathay City has a 10-storey office building, 23-storey staff hotel named "The Headland", amenities centre and flight training centre.

There are flight simulators inside the Flight Training Centre for air crew to familiarise with different flight conditions, with available simulators including Airbus A330, A350, Boeing 747-8F and 777. There are also cabin mock-ups of Airbus A350 and Boeing 777 for cabin crew service trainings, mock cabins for emergency evacuation drills, as well as mock check-in counters of Terminal 1 for customer service training. There are also crew dispatch, luggage check-in, Immigration Department kiosks and security check kiosks for crew members to sign in for duty.

There are also amenity facilities for staff at Cathay Pacific City, as well as a shop selling Cathay souvenirs and merchandises for staff.

At present, except for reserved group visits (e.g. schools, organisations) as well as media activities, Cathay City is not open to the general public. Other visitors must state their visiting Cathay staff member's name and direct line phone number before entering, otherwise entry is not allowed.

The Airline Store Building is located at the opposite of the Bus Stop Loop on Scenic Road, which is divided away from the rest of Cathay City by Scenic Road. The general public can use the footbridge to access both sides of Scenic Road. It is worth mentioning that the footbridge is also a spot available for planespotting of movements at South Runway (25R).

Transport[]

Bus stops are located at outside the main entrance, Scenic Road southbound, the bus stop loop on Scenic Road northbound and outside East Coast Road northbound outside Cathay City. Residents' buses and staff buses stop outside the main entrance where taxi stand and pick-up and drop-off are are also located. The stops on Scenic Road southbound and the bus stop loop on Scenic Road northbound are also served by North Lantau External Routes ("E" Routes), Overnight North Lantau External Routes ("N" Routes), North Lantau Shuttle Routes ("S" Routes) and Overnight Airbus Routes ("NA" Routes); whereas New Territories GMB Route 901 serve the minibus stops located on Scenic Road southbound and East Coast Road northbound for Tung Chung North and HZMB Hong Kong Port directions respectively, and all Citybus E routes, as well as Routes N11, N21, N21A and S56 towards Airport also serve the stop located on East Coast Road northbound. Besides, special trips of designated Airbus Routes ("A" Routes) also serve Cathay City during peak hours.

Tung Chung Station is the nearest MTR Urban Line station from Cathay City, which is accessible by both Citybus Route S52 and LWB Route S64 (service provided by Route S64C during daily morning peak hours).
